Shhhhh.............!

This is an example of a repetition poem where the child is given a stem sentence that is repeated over and over again. Most kids love the freedom to complete each line in a different way - but look at the last 2 lines and what Anushri has done to what might have been a simple childish poem!

Shhhhh.............!

It was so quiet that I heard the chattering of an ant.

It was so quiet that I heard the breath of a soaring eagle.

It was so quiet that I heard the smile on her lips.

It was so quiet that I heard the blink of a swimming octopus.

It was so quiet that the doorbell seemed like terrifying thunder.

It was so quiet that a baby's crying might as well be a violent storm.

It was so quiet that the gushing of river water could be the roar of a ferocious lion.

It was so quiet that the honks of passing cars could burst any eardrum.

And so the quietness ripped my organs. And so the quietness tore my soul.

And so the quietness crushed my essence. And so the quietness was the cause of my death.
