Welcome to a world of children’s writing!

I’ve been teaching Creative Writing in schools for over 30 years since 1981 and in my special classes for kids since 1992 - but I have never stopped marvelling where all that burst of creativity comes from – and what makes a child’s mind tick. I've worked hard to find better and better ways to bring out this wondrous magic - for want of a better word - that resides in every single child. I'm still learning.

When the quietest and most diffident, 'unlikely' kids produce work that sparkles and blazes, and the impish ones you never thought would manage even a paragraph, write stuff that blows your socks off - you can do only one thing – share it online with as many others as you can! That's how this website came about.

Here are some of the most recent samples of work done in my weekly classes for kids aged 7-14.

As A. A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh said so well - as only Pooh bear can - "When . . . you Think of Things, you find sometimes that a Thing which seemed very Thingish inside you is quite different when it gets out into the open and has other people looking at it." -A.A. Milne in Winnie the Pooh

So the kids work really seems even more marvellous now that it’s all out there for every one of you to see!

We hope it will encourage other kids who think creative writing is some kind of dreadful monster to be avoided at all costs – or that all writing assignments are designed to stun you dead with a "Stupefy!!"

It’s a small start that will hopefully grow to include other topics like:

  • reviews of books that we have read and loved (you can’t be a good writer without reading!)
  • tips for writing better, and so on.

Last but not the least, through the Reading, wRiting and Reasoning skills the children are learning here, we hope they will feel confident, learn good values and the importance of Relating better to themselves.

The kids and I hope you enjoy the site. We hope to keep adding to and updating it every few weeks.

So keep in touch, we say!

Do respond by e mail or on Facebook. Your comments will go a long way in encouraging us and helping us to improve both our writing and this site.
